Confero Inc. Announces 23-City National Mystery Shopper Certification Workshop Tour to Launch in Raleigh-Durham Area
.
Cary, NC — June 4, 2003 — Getting paid to shop may sound like a lark, but to tens of thousands of mystery shoppers across the U.S. and Canada, shopping is serious business. They recognize that the information they provide to businesses helps those businesses improve customer service and quality in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Plus, these professional shoppers are able to supplement family incomes with enjoyable part-time work or, in some cases, make shopping a full-time job.

The more than 150 member companies of the Mystery Shopping Providers Association (MSPA) recognize that mystery shoppers are professionals and, as in other professions, education and certification standards are necessary to maintain the highest levels of performance. In May 2003, MSPA introduced a new certification program. The first phase is an online educational program. Upon completion, the shopper receives Silver Certification, which is recognized as a hallmark of professionalism by the member companies of the MSPA.

Shoppers can further advance their professional standing through Gold Certification workshops MSPA will present in cities throughout the United States and Canada. On June 14, 2003, the one-day MSPA Gold Certification Workshop is coming to the Raleigh-Durham area. According to Elaine Buxton, President of Confero, a Cary-based mystery shopping firm, “Attending the Gold Certification Workshop enables shoppers to sharpen skills and enhance their professionalism. We know that shoppers who are committed to developing their skills will provide the outstanding service our clients expect. Confero has been committed to shopper certification from the start and I am delighted that the Triangle area was selected as the first site of the 23-city tour.”

Cathy Stucker, author of “The Mystery Shopper’s Manual”, will present the Gold Certification Workshop. The workshop focuses on shopper observation and reporting skills. In addition, participants will have a unique opportunity to network with other mystery shoppers. The workshop will be held in 22 more cities throughout North America during 2003.
