Are you “mystery shopping curious”? Would you like to know more about this fun side gig? Terrific! Here are some points that most people like to know as they consider this new side hustle.
How Does Someone Become a Mystery Shopper that Contracts with Confero?
First, did you know that mystery shoppers are independent contractors? This means they are not employees of the companies that they mystery shop on behalf of when they conduct shops, audits, surveys, etc. Therefore, as a mystery shopper you are your own boss and get to choose which shops you wish to conduct.

Yes? Confero has created an informative booklet that explains more about mystery shopping and the mystery shopping industry. To get a copy, please follow this link and submit your information to receive this booklet. There is no obligation in doing this. Confero is simply sharing information with you.
Would you Like to Register to Become A Mystery Shopper?
Yes? Please register at the links below. Sassie/Compass and ShopMetrics are mystery shop platforms that Confero uses to share information on gigs and give mystery shop contractors access to the mystery shop surveys, brand audit lists, etc.
Are There Different Types of Mystery Shops?
Yes. In store mystery shops are the ones that most people are aware of happening. In these shops, a mystery shopper goes into a retail location and is a customer. The mystery shopper will ask certain questions, observe certain things and, occasionally, be asked to take a covert photo or two. Immediately after they leave the location, they would input that information into the survey on either the Sassie or ShopMetrics system and submit what they observed. The goal is to do this all without being identified as a mystery shopper.
Brand audits have you observe marketing posters, what employees say, etc. when a mystery shopper does that type of shop. On a compliance shop, a shopper is testing to be certain that employees follow the law when selling highly regulated items like alcohol or tobacco. Essentially this all means, “Did they card you?” and verify that you are eligible to make the purchase. These are just a few of the other in retail locations types of shops Confero offers.
In addition to these shops, Confero offers telephone shops where mystery shoppers call a business and report how the phone call went. Were your questions answered well, did the employee identify themselves, etc. are typically questions on these types of surveys.
Beyond these mystery shopping surveys, contracts to purchase on a retail location’s app and observe how that process works are common. Some of the grocery store chains that Confero works with like to test their curbside pick up service. Therefore, we offer curbside grocery contracts from time to time.
How Does One Stay Informed About What Contracts Confero is Currently Offering?
Confero contracts change often! So, this is a great question. As Confero is enlisted to help different companies across the United States, mystery shop contracts are offered across the country. These change month to month and even week to week as shops are done by shoppers and more are added to the gig boards by Confero.
Once you are registered in the Sassie/Compass and ShopMetrics apps, you will have insight into their Job Boards and see the Confero shops available. Additionally when you register in these systems, if you check yes to receive emails about shops in your area, the computers will automatically send you an automated email when a shop becomes available near you.
Confero actively shares new mystery shop contract opportunities through our social media channels. We always use this hashtag – #Conferogigs. This helps mystery shoppers easily find our shops utilizing #Conferogigs in searches.
Follow us on one of our social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram, X, Pinterest or YouTube to see videos highlighting the latest opportunities.
